THE GUEST LIST: CHRIS SENIOR

Malaysia’s known for its fair share of tattoo parlours. You can find some of the most prolific inkers in Kuala Lumpur! Chris was no exception; his stay to Kuala Lumpur was marked by a special tattoo on his neck.

To make things more special, Chris’ decision to embark on a backpacking adventure throughout Southeast Asia was based on his poor health. He had nothing left to lose…so much so that he almost drowned while in Thailand!

Now, that’s what we call a man with spirit.

Chris, wherever you are…come back to us whenever you can, y’hear? Thanks for sharing the love!

PLACES AND FACES: MAY 28TH - JUNE 3RD

As Kuala Lumpur quietens down for the week, we take a look at two events that music lovers will run to.

We The Kings: Inked and Approved (30th May @ Car Park F, Bukit Jalil Stadium)

The true testament to any great rock band is how well they can fill out a car park at Malaysia’s National Stadium. We The Kings are in KL, promoting their brand of power punk to the masses.

Steve Aoki: Live in KL (30th May @ Neverland)

Devon Aoki’s hipster DJ brother returns to KL, promising his usual brand of pulsating beats and gonzo electronica. Are you in for this?

The Bite Direction: Soong Kee

One of the best things about being in Malaysia is the exposure to food that you’d get from nowhere else. Since we’re in a multicultural melting pot, we come across a large amount of Chinese cuisine.

If you’re in Kuala Lumpur, you should take the chance to sample a bowl of beef ball noodles. There’s no better place to savour them than at the Soong Kee restaurant, which is located only a stone’s throw away from BackHome.

If you’re finicky about eating the noodles in soup, it’s better to order your noodles to be ‘dry’, i.e., the noodles and the bowl of beef ball soup will be served separately. It’s also more worthwhile, as you’ll be able to taste the minced beef as well that comes along with the noodles as well.

Where is it:

86, Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, 56000, Kuala Lumpur – It’s perched on the corner or Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and on the corner of Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin

What it’d cost:

RM 6.00 for a large bowl of noodles / RM 5 for a small bowl of noodles

Our recommendation:

A standard bowl of beef ball noodles, along with a bowl of beef tripe (RM 6)
